The Japanese version of the hymn 'Return O Wanderer, return' inspired Sadao Watanabe to create this print. It shows a cross with flowers, bamboo and pine leafs. This hymn was included in the 1954 edition of the Sambika hymnal, but probably also in the older versions. I guess that Sadao Watanabe sang this hymn in church.
The hymn was written bij William Bengo Collyer (1782-1854) ウィリアム・ベンゴ・コリアー (1782年-1854年 ) in 1812. He was a minister in London and published numerous hymns.

Return, O wanderer, return,
And seek thy Father’s face;
Those new desires which in thee burn
Were kindled by his grace.
Return, O wanderer, return,
He hears thy humble sigh;
He sees thy softened spirit mourn
When no one else is nigh.
Return, O wanderer, return,
Thy Saviour bids thee live;
Come to his cross, and grateful learn
How freely he’ll forgive.
This hymn was adapted into a Japanese hymn and included in the hymnal Sambika. The text on Sadao Watanabe's print shows the 4th couplet of the hymn in hiragana;
さまよう人々 たちかえりて
十字架の上なる イエスをみよや
血潮の滴る み手をひろげ
「生命をうけよ」と まねきたもう。
In the Japanese version the hymn has 4 couplets:

罪とがくやめる こころこそは
父より与うる たまものなれ
